Our Dream Trip to the Bahamas

10 years ago I had this dream vacation planned in my head, to visit PIG Island. I am obsessed with pigs and I know I had to get to The Bahamas one day to live my dream vacation out. And slowly but surely we made it there. It was the most amazing trip I have ever been on. It was unreal and I am so grateful my husband and I were able to finally do it.

We stayed in Nassau, the Bahamas capital city, in a Baha Mar Resort, called the SLS. I was completely blown away by this gorgeous hotel. My husband and I did not want to leave, even though I cried everyday missing my babies. The SLS opened in November of 2017 so everything looked completely new. Beautiful ocean view rooms, a pink color throughout, a variety of pools to lounge around, and a huge casino, which made us feel like we were in vegas. My husband and I definitely want to bring our kids here someday for a family trip.

We spent 4 nights there, which was not nearly enough. The first day was a lounge day, we stayed at the resort, visited the beach and lounged by the aquarium pool where you can swim next to sharks. We also had massages and ate at the popular italian restaurant called Fila. There were a variety of restaurants to choose from, we ate at katsuya, a sushi restaurant, which was delicious. We ate lunch poolside, we both had delicious burgers, they were to die for. They also had a cute little daiquiri place where you can ride a bike to blend your drink, my husband had to try it.

So the main reason for the trip to the bahamas was to go on the excursion where you can swim with sharks, pigs and feed iguanas. So right when we got there we booked our excursion to Staniel Cay in Exuma. Its an all day excursion and exhausting but so worth it. We took a tiny plane to Exuma with probably 12 other people, it was like a 30 minute flight. It was quite the experience to ride a small plane like that. We landed and they took us to a little bar on the island to wait for our tour guide. It was such a quiet and  beautiful island, so peaceful.

From there they took us to Pig island on a power boat, where we got to feed swimming pigs and go on land and spend time with them. I got to hold baby pigs which was so amazing. From there we went to swim with sharks, it was so hard for me to jump in but I did it after some encouraging words from my husband. After that we went to iguana island to feed iguanas. It was an all day excursion, but went by so fast. We enjoyed every second of it. Our tour guide also took us around to beautiful private islands and talked about different resorts you can stay at, and gave us some history on the island as well. It was an amazing experience we will never forget and we are so happy we got to do it.

Overall this trip was a dream trip. It was the first time we left our babies. We are so lucky to have my parents, they were in such great hands and they all had a blast together while we were gone. It was much needed time away for my husband and I, and we are so blessed to be able to go on this trip. Words cannot describe how amazing it was!!
